"Victory Over All" by Steve Long
Posted on July 22, 2020 at 3:00 PM |
Recently the Lord spoke to me that I am not to focus on my past failures or mistakes, but instead to expect victories now and in the future. Every human (who lives long enough), except Jesus, has made mistakes and has experienced failure. But let’s put that behind. Working together with the Lord, there is still time for us to go forward and achieve new victories. The devotional I want to share with you today is about our victory in Jesus.
#23: VICTORY OVER ALL
THE POWER OF THE EVIL ONE, part two
We believers continually give God thanks,
for He has delivered us out of the authority of darkness
and translated us into the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are delivered out of all the bondage of the devil,
for we have been redeemed through Jesus’ blood.
And we are complete in Him who disarmed all evil spirits,
triumphing over them through the cross.
(Colossians 1:4, 8-14, 2:10, 15)
Like a king making a public spectacle of his enemies
in a victor’s procession,
the Lord Jesus defeated the devil and his demons
and put them to open shame.
(Colossians 2:15)
Grow strong through God’s mighty resurrection power
and know that you are seated with Christ,
far above your enemies.
(Ephesians 6:10, 1:19-23, 2:6)
Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power -
which He displayed when He raised Christ from the dead.
(Ephesians 6:10, 1:19-20)
Like soldiers, we Christians must learn to be disciplined,
on mission, and under authority.
(Ephesians 6:10-18, II Timothy 2:3-4)
An alert Christian gives the devil no place in his life;
a determined believer gives demons no power in his affairs.
(Ephesians 4:26-27)
Don’t stay mad – not even until the sun goes down.
For the devil comes with temptations,
but those who put on the Lord Jesus Christ
refuse to let the devil have any place in them.
(Ephesians 4:26-27, Romans 13:14, John 14:30)
God raised us believers up out of sin
and out of the devil’s authority
and seated us with Jesus in the heavenly places,
far about all evil spirits and fallen angels.
(Ephesians 1:20-23, 2:4, 6)
Since Jesus is highly exalted as Lord
and the Name of Jesus is above every name,
evil spirits must bow at the name
of the resurrected Son of God, Jesus Christ.
(Philippians 2:9-11, Romans 14:10-11, Luke 10:17-19)
Note: this devotional is from Proverbs of Faith, Hope, and Love, Volume 1, from Day 78, pages 176-177.
